PRESCRIPTION
READING YOUR PRESCRIPTION?
After your eye examination you will be issued with a prescription which is likely to look similar to this one
You can very easily transfer your written prescription onto rimless-glasses.co.uks prescription form, using the simple drop down menu: In the drop down box please tell us whether your spectacles are for general use, distance, reading, intermediate or bifocal. We can then use this information to make your new spectacles to your exact specifications.
PUPILLARY DISTANCE OR P.D?
Your pupillary distance is simply the distance from the pupil in your left eye to the pupil in your right eye. Your optician can measure this for you during you eye test and you can enter this measurement on our prescription form. If you do not have this measurement then don’t worry, we can use an average measurement which is 63mm for distance spectacles and 60mm for reading spectacles.
CAN YOU READ THE PRESCRIPTION FROM MY EXISTING GLASSES?
Yes, this is a service we can offer you. There is an administration charge of 10.00 for this service and your spectacles must be made to a current prescription under two years old and under a year old if you are over 70.
I HAVE ENTERED THE WRONG DETAILS ON MY ORDER?
Please e-mail us straight away in order for us to quickly and effectively remedy any problems.
CAN YOU SUPPLY LENSES WITH PRISMS?
No, the complex nature of fitting lenses containing prisms means that you will have to purchase your spectacles from a registered optician.
LENSES
LENS TYPES?
All of our spectacles are supplied with CR39 scratch resistant plastic lenses as standard. If you elect for standard single vision rimless glasses we supply thin and light scratch resistant lenses as standard. There are further lens options that are even thinner and lighter and are supplied with scratch resistant and anti-reflective coating as standard. All bifocal lenses are made from CR39 optical plastic regardless of your frame choice and are the common D28 style (see diagram below). Reactolight lenses are made from optical plastic and darken to provide protection for your eyes against sunlight. In rimless frames we recommend the thin and light reactolights as it is a more durable material and is resistant to cracking due to its strong reactolights strength. BIFOCAL LENS
I NEED VARIFOCALS CAN YOU SUPPLY THEM?
With varifocals lenses we would require you to supply an existing frame with varifocal lenses in them. This would then give us the relevant details we need to process your order.
LENS MATERIALS?
Higher Index lens materials offer you the opportunity of thinner, lighter and stronger plastics to make your spectacle wearing experience more pleasurable. All of our high index materials are supplied with scratch resistant and anti-reflective coatings as standard with the exception of thin and light reactolights which are supplied with a hardcoating as standard. Our superthin lenses are approximately 30% thinner and lighter, extrathin are approximately 40% thinner and ultimate thin is approximately 50% thinner all in relation to standard CR39 optical plastic.
We recommend high index lenses for: - · People who require the best cosmetic appearance for their spectacles · People who require the lightest and most comfortable spectacles · People with higher powers, generally above +/-3.00 · Rimless frames due to their higher tensile strength
LENS TREATMENTS?
SCRATCH RESISTANT: All lenses supplied by rimless-glasses.co.uk are supplied with scratch resistant as standard. This coating makes your new lenses more durable and harder therefore resisting surface abrasion. ANTI-REFLECTION: Stops reflections forming on the lens surface and gives a nicer cosmetic appearance to your spectacles. This coating will help users of VDU’s and people who drive at night by reducing glare, in fact anywhere you encounter artificial light.
WITH ANTI REFLECTION
WITHOUT ANTI REFLECTION
REACTOLIGHT: Reactolight lenses automatically change according to sun-light conditions. In bright sun-light the lenses darken to provide effective protection against strong sun-light. They do not react to visible light; therefore even in the brightest lit room they will remain clear. TINTS: Tints are available in two different densities, dark for sunglasses and light for fashion use. UV BLOCK: Adding this treatment to your lenses will prevent harmful UV rays from entering your eyes. Studies suggest that UV rays can lead to numerous eye conditions such as cataract and macular degeneration. This treatment is particularly recommended for people who have prolonged exposure to UV such as outdoor occupations or pastimes.

CAN YOU HELP ME WITH THE CHOICE OF MY FRAME?
Your choice of frame is a very personal decision, but we can help you if you follow these few simple guidelines on your choice of frame: - · Round faces – tend to suit rectangular frames · Oval faces – most frame shapes tend to suit an oval face, but be careful on the lens depth, if it’s too deep it can make your face look elongated. · Square face – oval and round frames are very complimentary, but you can wear a rectangular frame with a deep lens. The safest option is always a rimless frame combined with the anti-reflection coating. By choosing this option the lenses are almost invisible, and then your only consideration is which of the many colours you feel would compliment your natural tones the best.
WHAT IF THE FRAME I HAVE CHOSEN DOES NOT SUIT ME WHEN IT ARRIVES?
In the unlikely event you receive your new glasses and are not 100% happy with your choice, simply return the spectacles to us within seven days and choose another pair, under the terms of our peace of mind guarantee.
CAN I HAVE MY NEW GLASSES ADJUSTED?
Although we take every care to ensure your spectacles are ready for you to wear from the moment you receive them, there will be occasions when a small adjustment is necessary to ensure an optimum fitting. Most High Street opticians will provide this service to you for a small charge.
WHAT DO THE FRAME MEASUREMENTS MEAN?
All of our frame measurements are clearly labelled and are in milli-meters. You can always compare your new spectacles to the size of your old ones, to ensure the correct size for your requirements. To help you choose the correct frame size please see the diagrams below.
